Alive and Moving

My website has gone to the dumps recently, even more so now that I’ve been moving. I am simultaneously moving Michelle and myself out of our apartment while moving our office and warehouse for work. I’m very tired.

You can’t see how deep the warehouse is, but we have a long way to go. Drilling and bolting all these shelves down to the concrete is going to be insane.

The nice thing about 10-hour days of physical labor is that I can pretty much eat whatever I want. I had five slices of pizza for lunch one day. After moving some stuff home this weekend I stopped at the local burger joint and decided to go nuts.

Me: Can I get a bacon cheeseburger with pastrami on top if it?
Cashier: Oh, what you want is the Colossal Burger and add bacon to it.
Me: There’s already a name for this burger?!
Cop behind me: Get it. It’s awesome.

I did, and it was.

After my colossal lunch, Michelle’s family came over to look at the new place. They put out some eggs for the Easter egg hunt.

Counting their treasure.

To summarize it all, things are pretty rough right now, and I’m pretty tired. I will be back to my normal fun-loving self soon enough I hope.

We’ve got furniture!

Sunday I got an instant message from one of Michelle’s sorority sisters. She and her husband are moving to Singapore, and his plans to get rid of some of his belongings fell through. That gave us the opportunity to get some free furniture and help a friend out. I took my work truck to pick up what I thought would be just a handful of items. Instead I left with this.

Piled into this truck is the following.

  • Full sized bed and frame with pillows and blankets.
  • Dresser.
  • Coffee table.
  • 3 small end tables.
  • Coat rack
  • Iron and 2 ironing boards.
  • Closet racks.
  • Towel rack.
  • 3 swiffer/duster/mop.
  • A dozen bottles of cleaning agent.
  • Garbage bags.
  • A dozen light bulbs.
  • Flatware.
  • Cutlery.
  • Dish drying rack.
  • Oven baking pans.
  • Box of sauces and seasonings.
  • 2 lamps.
  • A chair.

That means our registry will have to be reduced to the following.

  • 60″ LCD television
  • Playstation 3
  • Couch

Twenty Two Years of Junk

The furniture is now all moved into the new house, except for a few smaller pieces of furniture. Everything else fits into boxes, and man there are a lot of boxes. We’ve moved Christmas lights, school awards, photo albums, and toys. I have a box full of comic books, boxes of Transformers, and boxes full of Star Wars action figures. We can’t bring ourselves to toss these out.

Then there are the LEGO boxes. There are boxes and boxes of LEGO blocks and sets. I stumbled across this site. This guy makes a living being a LEGO arms dealer. This almost makes me want to break out the LEGO sets and start building all over again. The only problem is that I would be known as the 27 year old guy that lives at home with his parents, has multiple fish tanks, and still play with LEGO. I think I’ll just stick to being the 27 year old guy that lives at home with his parents and has multiple fish tanks and save myself a little dignity.

Time to Move

Well Escrow is officially closed. I stopped by the house today to check in on it. Things are ready for my move this weekend. I’ll miss my old house with all its problems.

This window has been broken for 20 years. I put the tape on it this winter, because it was exceptionally cold.

“Whoa! She’s getting out of the shower again! Check it out!”

Yes, the previous owner left a pair of high powered binoculars and a telescope. The telescope even has a laser sight on it. I can make people all over Los Angeles think there is a sniper out to get them. I’ll update with pictures as we get moved into the new house.
