Staycation!

I noted before that Michelle wont a night’s stay at The Langham. It’s the old Ritz Carlton in Pasadena.

It sits on twenty three acres of beautiful ground.

Michelle, enjoying the grounds and testing out her new curls.

The grand hallway. It’s not officially titled that, but it looks appropriate.

The patio. The spheres light up at night time.

This squirrel lives on the patio and will fearlessly approach any guest.

The Lanai Poolside King. The tint of blue in the top is the pool outside.

Michelle, enjoying the pool view while staying connected to the rest of you via her Droid.

We met Harrison and Annie for dinner in San Gabriel at this shabu shabu spot. Does the logo on the far left look like a penis to anyone else? It’s supposed to be a cat arching its back on piano keys.

Everyone gets their own hot pot! That’s Harrison and Annie, now known as Chong.

Raw beef, fresh vegetables, and fish paste ready to be dropped into simmering broth.

Michelle went with the seafood, like she always does.

Look how happy we are to eat!

After dinner we headed to the lounge at the hotel to listen to some live jazz and have another beer, but that was it for the night. We woke up the next morning with the sun already high in the sky warming the day. We spent some time by the newly opened pool and then went to lunch downtown.

French toast at Bottega Louie.

Michelle went with the pizza. Does she looked naked behind the pizza? Hot.

Next time. I will be back. Next time.

All in all it was a great getaway from reality for twenty four hours. We’re a little bit poorer now, but not quite as poor as if we bought airline tickets or three tanks of gas.

My solution to not living with my parents.

Michelle has been planning the entire wedding pretty much. The only thing I am in charge of is groomsmen attire, wedding rings, the honeymoon, and where we’re going to live. So far I’m 0/4. I do think we’ve found a solution to the living situation though.

Michelle won a contest for a night’s stay at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena. This weekend we’re staying in a room called the Lanai Poolside King. I always fancied myself poolside and a king. I’ve been sidetracked. The plan. All Michelle has to do is win a free night’s stay 365 times each year and our living situation is handled. Looks like I’m now 1/4 in the responsibility department.

I better tell Michelle to get working on that solution. I just come up with the answers. I don’t implement them.

Milking This Trip for Blog Content

I booked a flight for New York for Michelle and myself way back in June. When I originally booked it, it was just the two of us going to visit some friends for a long weekend trip, but it turned out that a lot of our friends had vacation time. They ended up coming out to New York too, and we had a blast. Since I just got back and I’m too tired to post the whole trip, I’ve decided to post a little bit at a time and make it a blog mini series.

Originally Michelle and I were going to stay with Randall. Then Michelle decided to see about getting us a hotel through some work connections. She got us hooked up with a room at The Shoreham Hotel for our entire stay. The place is really nice and is definitely worth checking out if you need a place to stay in the city.

The chair in the background is a massage chair. Came in handy after long days.

They even gave us a fruit platter and a complimentary bottle of champagne, which was our first dinner.

Oh yeah. There were Flaming Hot Cheetos also. Did you know they don’t sell Flaming Hot Cheetos anywhere in Manhattan, maybe in the other boroughs too?

More to come later…

So This is Life

I thought I was going to be spending most of the weekend working. I was waiting for a response from another company that never came through, so I really couldn’t work on anything. It’s shocking when you realize you don’t have something to do sometimes. I almost didn’t know what to do with myself. Fortunately, there were already plans for me to tag along.

This Saturday was Carissa’s birthday, and she made it a glow party. I thought I was going to feel way old and I did, but I was able to take some of that experience and teach the younger kids by  kicking some ass at beer pong.

My nose looks huge and bulbous in this picture. Maybe it always looks like that. Also bulbous is a strange word to see written out.

That’s not a joint in her right hand. That would be a Flaming Hot Cheeto. Is singular form of Cheetos, Cheeto? Maybe it’s more like the plural of LEGO is LEGO.

Sunday Michelle had a work event for an LPGA golf tournament. It was the pre-tournament dinner and party held at Pacific Palms. I had no idea this place existed since I would never stay at a hotel in Los Angeles and I don’t golf. It’s pretty nice, and I’d come back here just for a meal sometime.

I’m not sure if this was some sort of promotion, but this was just sitting outside the hotel lobby.

If you follow me on Twitter, you heard about this burger with sweet potato fries. Michelle and I just ordered it because we were starving and couldn’t wait an hour before the event started. This burger was good. It was without a doubt better than Father’s Office, which serves up pretty good burgers. With bar food like this, I don’t even care to try the rest of the restaurants.
