Everyone got crabs but me.

This weekend we decided to get some seafood on the Redondo Beach Pier. There’s a popular crab house there, but I can’t eat crab.  I’m allergic. Pity me. Still there were plenty of other delicious things to eat.

DSC_0022

You can see the carnage here from the meal. Michelle has an exceptionally large pile of shells in front of her. She doesn’t waste any time when it comes to eating.

DSC_0027

This is a spicy fish soup. It’s delicious.

DSC_0013

These little guys were still moving a bit when they arrived at our table. Undeterred by our squeamish tendencies, we took on this plate well. They are so sweet and delicious.

Afterward we decided to get some dessert and coffee at a nearby restaurant.

DSC_0046

I think this one was the Green Tea Tiramisu.

DSC_0050

Chocolate cake, which lived up to its name. It was like chocolate on chocolate on chocolate.

DSC_0044

And just because…fuck yeah bokeh!

Shared Finances

Me: I’m going to hang out with Tim this weekend.
Michelle: Oh okay.
Me: Yeah, I opened a bank account with him so I also need to sign some papers.
Michelle: What?! How about me?! How come we don’t have a shared bank account?
Me: Uh, Tim’s a banker.
Michelle: Ohhhhhh!
Me: What? You weren’t at all confused as to why I would open a joint banking account with another man? You were more concerned I wasn’t sharing my money with you!

Good Food and Good Friends

Today was a terrible day at work, a stark contrast to this weekend, which was a whirlwind of activities and non activities with friends accented with delicious meals.

We celebrated Lorenzo’s birthday in Long Beach at a Detective Dinner. Look, it’s Michelle & Matt!

IMG_6224

Here we are at Wurstküche, famous for their sausages and beers.

IMG_6227

I am definitely coming back for the beer but also because they were out of rattlesnake and rabbit sausage.

DSC_0010

I told Michelle to pick anywhere to eat on Sunday, and she picked The Golden State. It’s not the best burger I’ve had, but it’s definitely solid. What they do have going for them is Virgil’s Root Beer on tap. I work with this company once in a while, and they make great root beer and cream sodas. Every once in a while they’d give us free cases and kegs.

Since we don’t get out to LA all that much, Michelle and I decided to stay in the area and make a trip to Jitlada Thai Restaurant.

DSC_0029

The Mango Salad is incredible. Make sure to save some.

DSC_0033

You’ll need it to cool this beast down. This is fire-in-a-bowl, Jungle Curry! Michelle would leave me for this dish if she could figure out how to get it to buy her presents.

When’s the next three day weekend?

Photographic Wekend Recap

DSC_0095

Michelle and I went to Terranea to grab lunch.

DSC_0122

The pools are only open to guests.

DSC_0113

But if you’re a smooth talker, you can work your way in and get a cabana too.

DSC_0126

This is Michelle’s idea of playing house. A Slurpee and some Flaming Hot Cheetos.

DSC_0149

Mmmm, Musha Fried Chicken.

DSC_0151

Stingray. Eh. Stick with the beef if it’s an option.

DSC_0002

Neeeeeeeerds! While meeting up to go out, we further our quantum physics research.

DSC_0012

We had so much fun, we jumped for joy.

DSC_00041

Unfortunately, I’m sure you’re all aware that the fires are still going, and now they’re even bigger.

Keep cool and stay safe from the fires, everyone.

For(n)ever Young

This weekend we partied like it was 1999. That would have made me twenty. Do the math. I’m old.

Friday night we went to a bachelorette party for Michelle’s friend Jen. There are two things that made this one atypical. First, guys were invited. Second, it was at Medieval Times.

DSC_0075

I’ve been here before as a kid, but it’s a lot more fun when you heckle the knights on the opposite team. It also helps to have  a lot of beer. Michelle saw a guy on a horse and began booing loudly until I told her, “That’s the announcer.”

DSC_0369

All that drinking and cheering can really take a lot out of you.

IMG_6154

Saturday night Kyung flew in for the weekend for his birthday. We went to grab a bite to eat at midnight.  By the time we finished having cake and a few drinks at his place, we were beat.

Staying out late doesn’t make you feel young again. It makes you realize that being young is a thing of the past, never to be brought back again.

Red Carpet Wedding

Have you ever been to a wedding that could possibly be confused with a Hollywood premier? I can now say that I have, thanks to Spencer and Vivian. While this wedding was a red carpet event, they made sure it had its own special touches to make it their own.

DSC_0037

Spencer gave all the groomsmen a special pair of kicks to wear during the reception.

DSC_0039

He also gave us a special pair of cuff links to wear with our tuxes.

DSC_0049

The wedding and reception were held at The Cicada in Downtown Los Angeles.

DSC_0068

Michelle on the red carpet with custom background. If you want to sound very Hollywood, you call the background a “step and repeat.” The rest of us just stared blankly every time Spencer called it this.

IMG_6077

No one got in without a look up and down to make sure high standards were met.

IMG_6079

The groom, minutes before the ceremony.

DSC_0272

It was a very nice ceremony, but I thought I was going to pass out from standing there. Man, tuxedos are hot.

IMG_6087

The first dance. Spencer is light on his toes. It must be the shoes.

IMG_6089

We all had a great time eating and drinking. Some of us had a little too much fun with the drinking.

Like I said, they had a very nice wedding but made sure their own touches were in there. Spencer surprised Vivian with a song.

DSC_0293

We were fortunate enough to get to have brunch with the bride and the groom the next day. Notice the groom is fidgeting with his ring.

I didn’t take very many pictures as I was busy and drunk most of the night. You can see the rest of what I have here.

2006: Stuff Happened

I had no idea how to categorize the things that happened in 2006. It was a lot of travels, a lot of fun with friends, and the beginning of a lot of fish.

PICT0007

I got my new MacBook. I remember having my friend watch me on iSight on my old PowerBook as I unwrapped it. Yup, nerd.

PICT0065

Michelle and I took a trip to Hawaii, our first trip together.

IMG_1914

We had too much beer and sake, so we went to Home Depot. I have a lot more pictures of us running around the place.

Oh the joys of Las Vegas. Scotch and cigars.

IMG_0202

I took a trip to Europe. I took Michelle. This is our second trip together.

IMG_1527

I won goldfish at the state fair. This started an obsession with keeping fish.

IMG_1745

This was my first fish tank I started with, a small 10 gallon unit.

IMG_1665

For Halloween I went as my friend Spencer. That’s me in the back center. I made extra masks so everyone could participate.

Only a couple years left until we’re current. Stay tuned!

2005: The End of Regular Binge Drinking

IMG_0165

The visits to D&B with sticky hand activities continued.

IMG_0104

I took my first trip to the Midwest and got my first taste of White Castle. Eh.

PICT0042

Vegas trip. Booooooooooze!

IMG_3143

My 25th birthday. Cheers!

IMG_2550

Unfortunately this birthday taught me a lesson. I am not invincible.

IMG_2557

I wasn’t the only one to learn a lesson.

IMG_0151

We learned we couldn’t hang out like we used to back in college.

IMG_0025

Michelle’s birthday.

A Hatty Birthday Celebration

Red Lion Tavern was the venue for the big 2-9 for Harrison and me. This year’s birthday was hat themed. Everyone has a hat, so it made it easy for people to come out in theme.

IMG_5893

Michelle and I looking hat-tastic.

IMG_5904

The other birthday boy. His hat says, “All hail the birthday princess!”

IMG_5908

Sausages are one of the best, simple foods.

IMG_5918

We brought out extra hats for those that didn’t choose to participate voluntarily.

IMG_5919

Hats all around.

IMG_5928

My cousin always steals the show when it comes to theme parties.

IMG_5939

Oliver Twist?

IMG_5933

Cheeeeeeeese! 8 beers, 2 Jager Bombs, some mystery shot from the waitress that looked like Heather Graham, and a Scotch later. I had no idea the human body could hold so much liquid.

The night ended at Fred 62 with Michelle and I falling asleep on each other while everyone else ate. I am old. Thanks to all my friends, who came out. I had a blast.

2004: Drink Problems Away

The year 2004 brought in the realization that life was going to be real work until I turned old and gray. So like any young adult would do, I looked forward to weekends and drank until I couldn’t remember them.

IMG_0037

Michelle and I still together. We loved weekends at Dave & Buster’s with friends, winning tickets, turning them in for stick hands, and then chasing each other around the place with them. I think it was our way to save our youth.

IMG_0051

Gotcha!

IMG_0053

Not even enough time to draw his weapon!

img_1027

I had a pretty good Halloween costume I threw together last minute. Hard to drink in this costume without a straw.

Michelle's Christmas Pictures043

New Year’s Eve with a little bit of the bubbly.

More historic moments to come and this time with more pictures, because I got a new camera.
