Cataratas Iguazu

After a weak of binge eating and drinking in Buenos Aires, we headed north to Iguazu. It’s a national park between Brazil and Argentina, and it houses the Iguazu waterfalls. Think Niagara Falls but not commercial and sucky.

Thanks to my friend Grace, we got upgraded to a falls view room at the Sheraton. It’s more expensive than other hotels, but it’s the only hotel in the park.

This is what we got to see from our balcony.

The zoom.

I was sad that I did not get to see monkeys.

The park consists of trails and catwalks that take you through the jungle andaround the falls. Michelle is standing over one of the smaller falls. It’s still pretty scary to look down over the edge on these small ones.

There’s wildlife of course. I forget what these are called, but they pretty much work like raccoons and squirrels in Yosemite. They try to hang out in lunch areas and steal human food.

You can see these guys lying in the sun all over the place too.

The falls are beautiful. It’s like looking at a scene of Pandora. Michelle said, “The only thing that could make this better is if the water was blue.”

If you’re brave you can even get on a boat and get closer to the falls.

We were brave.

I’m completely drenched right now. Mostly from waterfall, some pee.

Here we are at The Devil’s Throat. Behind us in Brazil.

This is just a piece of The Devil’s Throat. The only way to truly see how immense and powerful it is, is to be there in person. We do have video too, but we will save that for another time.

Oh yeah. I have a blog.

It’s been a while since I’ve written in this thing. In regards to the last entry, the meeting of the parental units went well. Now the next time the parents will have to meet is at the wedding rehearsal. Speaking of weddings, I just finished my October wedding tour, hitting three weddings three weeks in a row. You’ve seen the first one already.

Wedding number two was at Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, CA. Who knew such a place existed?

Here are the happily, newly wed couple! They look so happy.

But that’s not the coolest part. They had a white tiger. A fucking white tiger!

How do you top a white tiger? Well maybe a liger, but the last wedding of this wedding season did not have that. What it did have was sorority girls on a boat. It almost had T-Pain come along too, but the trip I won was only for two. Even without T-Pain the wedding was pretty awesome, because I think this wedding was the first time that Michelle and her sorority sisters came together in a long time.

The weather was a little gloomy, but things perked up. No, this isn’t an Asian sorority. UC Irvine has an over representation of Asians in general.

I’ve had my fill of weddings. Eloping in Vegas is looking real good right now.

I’m on a Boat!

Our last full day was spent with an ocean voyage on a catamaran.

I’m on a boat and, it’s going fast and, I’ve got a nautical themed Pashmina afghan!

The views were great, but some people were sick.

Michelle lost a shoe, and the boat actually backed up to get it.

With this one returned, the net shoe loss on the trip stayed at one.

We got to see dolphins. They played with the wake of the boat.

We got to snorkel and see fish swimming around the rocks.

Sometimes you feel less sick if you’re driving instead of riding.

It was a long trip, and it took a toll on some of us harder than others.

Be sure to check out the rest of the photos. Thanks to Google they’re even speedier now!

Travel by Boat, Horse, Zip Line

The spa wrapped up our stay in La Fortuna/Arenal. The next morning we made our journey to Monteverde.

We started out traveling via boat across the lake.

Then we got onto horses. Look we have the same haircut!

Here is the gang on the horses. That’s me in the back, very unhappy. I won’t be riding a horse again.

For dinner we went to Tree House. Did anyone see us on the webcam?

We took advantage of the nice ambiance to snap some photos. Here is Michelle with tree in background.

Hola, chica. Dame besos y abrazos.

The next morning my back was hurting so all my friends offered to take a crack at unknotting it. It hurt so bad. Look at how red my back turned. Why does he look so happy?

Fortunately I my back didn’t bother me enough to stop me from this.

This was a big deal for me. I don’t like roller coasters. They scare me.
