A Question for Food/Lifestyle Bloggers

How do you save money? Do you save money? I read your blogs and wonder, “How much money do these people make at their jobs to be able to roll in style all the time? I wonder if they’re saving up money to buy homes.”

Where is the money saving guide on night life? Maybe I need to stop worrying about saving up for the future and live now. How do you do it?

  1. Sir, I don’t have much savings. But I actually doubt I really “roll in style” all the time! I still look for the best deals!

  2. Drinks are what get you, especially in LA.

  3. Budgeting. Happy hours. Ordering one or two drinks if any at all. Drinking wine at home. Packing lunches for the work week.

I am by no means a food / lifestyle blogger but yes, some of us try to be thrifty and have fun at the same time! :)

  4. Since getting married, I hold on to my money more…weird since I basically have 2 incomes at my disposal. But we are saving up to buy a bigger house so no Providence or Matsuhisa trips for us anymore. So my blog posts are slowly on restaurants that are easier on the wallet.

  5. I don’t really save money. I rely on my generous employer.

  6. We have a fun allowance. Seriously. And then we spend that guilt-free on whatever the eff we want. And then when it’s run out we make the decision together to either go a little over the budget or decide that that’s enough fun til next month, let’s just watch the cable like old people.

  7. I eat simple, cheap meals/snacks that I make myself. I have “bachelor” meals that I make big batches up and freeze (turkey chili, chicken risotto, stews, etc.) so when I don’t have time to cook dinner, I just re-heat one of these instead of ordering out. When I do eat out, I make it worth it and eat the good stuff. And when I go out, I plan it around doing SOMETHING instead of just drinking. Like movies, art walks, free live music…
